Robert L. Bass, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Bass is a proud 1978 alumnus from the College of William and Mary, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He graduated with honors from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1982. At Southern, he was accepted into Beta Sigma Kappa, the International Optometric Honor Society and achieved membership in Sigma Alpha Sigma, the college's Optometric Honor Society. In 1986, Dr. Bass became a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Bass has practiced optometry in the same location in Manassas, Virginia since graduation. He is a member and former president of the Battlefield Optometric Society, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Optometric Association and served on the board of directors for Vision Service Plan, the largest vision insurance company in the United States. In addition, he is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Southern Council of Optometrists, and the Virginia Academy of Optometry.
An accomplished professional, Dr. Bass is also an avid fisherman and a dedicated family man. He lives in the city of Manassas with his wife and two daughters. He is active in several community organizations and is a member and former president of the Manassas Host Lions Club.

Amy E. Carlyle, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Carlyle, formerly Dr. Warren, received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the Honors Program at the University of Miami. Dr. Carlyle also completed a one year residency in ocular disease at Capital Eye Consultants in Fairfax, Virginia. This intensive training program afforded her the opportunity to work with one of the most prominent surgeons in Northern Virginia and gave her the skills and comfort level to manage a wide variety of eye diseases. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2000.
In addition to providing routine eye care in her practice, Dr. Carlyle has chosen to specialize in the examination of partially sighted individuals and has been certified as a low vision examiner by the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired.
Dr. Carlyle has served as a guest lecturer and is an active member of her regional Battlefield Optometric Society. She is also a member of the Virginia Optometric Association.
Outside of optometry, she is a member of Habitat for Humanity and is an active children's volunteer in her church. She is a fan of outdoor activities and met her loving husband playing on a local coed softball team. A native of the New Jersey Shore, and a beach bum at heart, she is blessed to be settled here in Virginia with her husband and their beautiful children.

Sheryl Bass, Office Manager, Opt. Tech.
Sheryl, a 1978 graduate of the College of William and Mary and Dr. Bass's wife, has been working in our office since 1982. She oversees the accounts receivable, monthly appointment reminders, personnel details and general optometric office management. Sheryl is also skilled in frame selection and contact lens handling, and looks forward to assisting you with all of your eye care needs.

Patti Clem, Ins. Coordinator, Opt. Asst.
Patti is our most senior employee and has been working with our optometric practice since 1991. She is familiar with the many vision insurance plans through which our patients' visual needs are covered. Our patients can always count on a pleasant reception as Patti takes care of their insurance concerns or specific scheduling needs.

Betty Staples, Patient Relations, Opt. Tech
Betty has worked in our office since 1995, but has had experience in the optical field since 1991. Her expertise in patient relations is evident in her ability to cheerfully manage patient needs. Betty will be happy to schedule you a convenient appointment and answer your insurance questions.

Kelly Williams, Optician
Kelly was born and raised in Northern Virginia and is a graduate of George Mason University, earning a BA in Sociology. Working in retail throughout school, Kelly discovered an interest in the optical field. She has experience in several large businesses and small offices, now calling our practice "home." In 2004, Kelly obtained her Virginia State License as a Dispensing Optician. She is familiar with frame styles, corrective lenses and contact lenses, and she would be happy to help with your prescription needs.

Antonio Williams, Optician
Tony began his optical career as a lab technician and then quickly earned the position of lab manager in the same high volume establishment. He accepted a position as an optician in a Northern Virginia office where he enjoyed working with patients and providing personal service for their eyecare needs. Tony joined our office in 2006 and appreciates the much shorter commute. He is always ready to attend to your optical needs and is skilled in repairs and frame adjustments.

Dr. Bass and Carlyle's Optometry office offers frame choices from a selection of over 600 attractive and fashionable frames from such manufacturers as Altair, Marchon, Safilo, ClearVision, Silhouette, and Charmant. Our Opticians will make sure your frames are a comfortable fit.

Contact Lenses
A major part of Dr. Bass and Carlyle's practice is the fitting of specialized contact lenses for those patients who prefer not to wear glasses. These lenses include hard gas permeable lenses, soft lenses for astigmatism, bifocal lenses, tinted lenses and the ultimate in convenience--disposable lenses for daily, weekly or monthly use.
